Website ownership, hosting and changes explained
Understand how owning your website, keeping it online and requesting future changes fit together in an afterworks.space proposal.
When reviewing a website proposal, it helps to separate the initial purchase from the services you may need afterwards. Ownership, hosting and updates each answer a different question.
What do you own?
Under our proposed arrangement, you own the purchased website after paying the agreed price. You can continue hosting with us or move it elsewhere. Third-party photographs and other assets remain subject to their own licences.
Your proposal should describe the website being supplied and any included features. An editing dashboard is not automatically part of a website rebuild; if one is included, it should be identified in the proposal.
What does hosting cover?
Hosting keeps the website available on a server. Our website purchase includes the first year’s hosting, followed by annual hosting at the renewal price in your proposal. Your quotation shows any applicable VAT, and we notify you of the hosting charge before renewal.
Domain registration, domain renewal and email hosting are not automatically included. We review those arrangements before launch so everyone understands what is changing and who is responsible for it.
How do future changes work?
Content updates, design alterations and new features are quoted separately. That might mean changing the description of a service, adding a page or discussing a new function.
Describe what you would like to change and ask for the scope and price before the work begins. Hosting does not automatically include ongoing development or marketing.

What should be agreed before launch?
