How Can I Tell Which Website Pages Generate Leads?
Identify website pages that introduce, assist and complete lead journeys, using analytics, enquiry records and cautious attribution.

Part of our guide: How to Measure Whether Your Business Website Is Actually Working
To find which website pages generate leads, track confirmed enquiries and connect them with the pages visitors encountered. Separate the page where a visit began, pages that helped the decision and the page where contact was completed.
The contact page often receives the final action. That does not mean it created all the interest.
Define a lead you can verify
Use a delivered enquiry, confirmed booking or another business outcome. Exclude spam, staff tests and duplicates according to a consistent rule.
A click on “Contact us” is useful supporting information, but it is not evidence that the visitor submitted a request.
The website measurement guide explains how to connect attempts with received and qualified enquiries.
Thinking about your own rebuild?
Tell us about your business, your current website and what you would like to improve. We will help you work out the next step.
Distinguish three page roles
The landing page introduces the visit. It may be a service page, article or homepage.
Assisting pages answer questions or establish confidence. Examples include case studies, pricing explanations and process pages.
The conversion location is where the recorded action happens. It may be a form embedded on a service page or an external booking system.
Report these roles separately. Otherwise you may remove helpful content because it rarely hosts the final button.
Capture useful context without personal data
For a form, a controlled hidden field can record the relevant page or campaign context if the implementation and privacy approach permit it. Avoid passing arbitrary URLs containing names, emails or other sensitive query parameters.
Keep a clear distinction between the page shown when the form was submitted and the original source of the visit. Label fields accurately.
Do not send the enquiry message itself into general analytics. Use business records for contact details and aggregated reporting for patterns.
Test the implementation
Submit a test from several pages and confirm the recorded context is correct. Test a visitor who moves through multiple pages and one who opens the form in a new tab.
Check cross-domain booking journeys and redirects. Tracking can be lost or duplicated when a customer moves between systems.
Compare a sample of analytics events with actual enquiries. If the two disagree, investigate before ranking pages by performance.
Expect incomplete journeys
People return later, switch devices, reject optional tracking or telephone after reading a page. Your reports will not reconstruct every influence.
Ask customers how they found you and which information helped, without treating memory as perfect attribution. Combine that feedback with the observable data.
Use phrases such as “associated with” or “appeared in recorded journeys” when you cannot establish a causal contribution.
Compare volume and quality together
A page with many enquiries may attract unsuitable work. Another page may produce fewer requests but a higher proportion of customers you can help.
Review sessions, confirmed enquiries, qualified enquiries and later outcomes. Include the observation period and sample size.
For low-volume pages, qualitative evidence may be more useful than a league table of rates. Conversion-rate guidance explains why small samples can mislead.
Turn findings into a page decision
If a service page attracts suitable traffic but few contacts, inspect the offer, evidence and next step. If a supporting article frequently appears before enquiries, improve its relevant links rather than forcing a sales form into every paragraph.
If a page generates repeated confusion, add the missing information. If it attracts unrelated traffic, reconsider its positioning and how it connects to the business.
Do not delete a page simply because an attribution model gave it no credit.
What should a monthly report show?
List a small number of important pages, their role, observed outcomes and one proposed action. Keep the definitions consistent and note any tracking changes.
A practical report might say: “The installation guide appeared in eight recorded enquiry journeys; customers also mention it in calls. Add clearer links to preparation and service coverage, then review.”
That supports a decision without claiming the guide independently caused eight sales.
