Website content inventory

Record which pages to keep, improve, combine or retire, with evidence and an owner for each decision.

Use this before a rebuild or content review. Include pages outside navigation and useful downloads. Record performance evidence where available; a quiet page may still serve an important customer task.

How to use it

  1. List existing URLs and their purpose before deciding which pages should move.
  2. Check accuracy, permissions, customer usefulness and available search or enquiry evidence.
  3. Choose an action, owner and destination. Keep undecided rows open until the evidence is sufficient.

A completed example

This example is fictional and illustrates decisions to record. It is not a client case study or a claim about results.

On a narrow screen, scroll across the table to read every column.

Before you call it complete

  • Every action has a reason beyond age or low traffic.
  • A distinct customer task has not been removed accidentally.
  • Permission checks and URL decisions are recorded separately.
  • Moved pages have a relevant destination and a corresponding redirect-map entry.
