Website quote comparison worksheet
Compare website proposals against the same scope, including exclusions, ownership and ongoing responsibilities.
Use this after sending suppliers the same brief. Blank or unclear entries are questions to resolve, not evidence that a supplier includes the work for free. The fictional example compares scope, not market prices.
How to use it
- Write the common requirement before entering a supplier response.
- Record included work, exclusions, assumptions, one-off costs and recurring costs separately.
- Ask for written clarification, then compare the total commitment and suitability rather than only the headline price.
A completed example
This example is fictional and illustrates decisions to record. It is not a client case study or a claim about results.
On a narrow screen, scroll across the table to read every column.
| Requirement | Fictional proposal A | Fictional proposal B | Clarification needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Content | Business supplies approved copy. | Editing five supplied pages is included. | Who researches, writes, approves and uploads each page? |
| Migration | Not specified. | URL inventory and agreed redirects included. | Which old pages and post-launch checks are covered? |
| Hosting and support | Quoted separately. | An initial hosting period is included. | Renewal cost, support scope, backups and response arrangements. |
| Ownership and leaving | Source-file handover not specified. | Handover offered, with third-party licences excluded. | What can leave, in what form and at what cost? |
